Ethnic Rhinoplasty in Colombia

Ethnic rhinoplasty in Medellín with Dr. Diego Franco: reshaping that respects your heritage and keeps the result natural.

What ethnic rhinoplasty means

Ethnic rhinoplasty is nose reshaping that respects the features of a patient's heritage rather than erasing them. Patients of African, Asian, Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent often have a nasal structure with thicker skin, a lower bridge or a wider base, and the surgery should be planned around those features. The goal is a nose that suits the face and keeps the person recognizable.

Balance, not erasure

A good ethnic rhinoplasty improves the nose without making it look like someone else's. The surgeon refines the bridge or the tip while keeping the character that fits the rest of the face. Over-narrowing a nose on a face with strong ethnic features often looks out of place. The right result is harmony, not a completely different nose.

Thicker skin and stronger cartilage

Thicker skin holds swelling longer and can hide the fine definition of the tip, so the surgeon must build more structure underneath to show a result through it. Cartilage in some ethnic noses is also softer or weaker, which affects how much support the nose needs after reshaping. These differences are why the same technique does not work for every nose.

What to discuss in your consultation

Bring photos of what you like and what bothers you, and be clear about how much change you want. Dr. Franco will tell you what your skin and cartilage allow, and how to keep the result natural for your face. The conversation should be about your goals, not about copying a nose from a photo.

Recovery

Expect a nasal splint for about a week, swelling and some bruising. Patients with thicker skin often see the swelling settle more slowly, so the final tip definition can take several months to appear. That is normal, not a sign the result failed.
